Ellie Warner has been showered with support after reaching a milestone she ‘never would have believed’ she’d be able to achieve.
The Gogglebox star, 35, who joined the Channel 4 show in 2015, has been working hard over the last few months as she aimed to take part in a 10k run.
That’s now exactly what she’s done, as she completed a local fundraiser event in her home city of Leeds on Sunday – she took to Instagram to prove it.
Hoping to raise money for the Cross Gates Terriers running club, Ellie was in a crowd of hundreds at Temple Newsam running track on the outskirts of the city.
She completed the 10k race in just over an hour and 40 minutes, being applauded across the finishing line as she landed the remarkable achievement.
Ellie wasn’t just being applauded by her friends and family on Sunday, as she was also congratulated by her fellow Gogglebox stars on social media.
On Instagram, Derbyshire Gogglebox family the Siddiquis sent their love and support Ellie’s way, saying: ‘Love this. Massive well done, Ellie. You smashed it!’
Jenny and Lee, writing from their famous caravan in Hull, cheered: ‘Congratulations, Ellie! Wow! You should be very proud of yourself – we certainly would be!’
Of course, Ellie’s couch critic sister Izzi couldn’t miss the opportunity to big-up her big sister, saying ‘Well done, sis!’ and adding some clapping emojis.
With the achievement now an incredibly special memory, Ellie posted a statement expressing her disbelief, but also her newfound love for running.
‘Completed my first ever 10k race today! When I started running back in May, I wouldn’t have ever believed I’d be able to run 10k!’
She continued: ‘I was one of the last to finish the race but I don’t let being slow put me off! I’m putting one foot in front of the other and that’s what matters.
‘Running is for everyone, no matter your size or speed! I’ve found an amazing group of supportive runners and that’s all the encouragement I need.’
The run comes just days after Googlebox fans were left utterly bewildered by an unusual and surprising new addition to the Warner family – a live chicken.
Ellie was apparently unfazed by the addition of the animal to their living room, and even sister Izzi initially made it clear she was keen to hold the bird.
‘Right so tell me, how do I hold a chicken?’ she asked, with Ellie explaining the process to her. Izzi eventually backed out, saying she couldn’t bring herself to hold the chicken for long.
Completely puzzled by what they’d just witnessed, several Gogglebox viewers took to social media to express their confusion.
‘Just a random chicken in the front room, as you do,’ josh_earl3 joked.
