Goldie Hawn proudly unveiled the secret to her decades-long relationship with Kurt Russell, explaining that ‘good sex’ is key.
The Hollywood legends have been dating since 1983 after reconnecting on the set of Swing Shift – which was released the following year.
They share son Wyatt Russell together, while the Private Benjamin actress, 78, is mom to Oliver and Kate Hudson, and the Overboard star, 73, welcomed son Boston with ex-wife Season Hubley.
Shedding light on their romance in a new interview, she offered up her tips for a long and successful partnership.
‘You have to have good sex,’ she declared. ‘Because sex is something that connects you and creates more belonging. People who have healthy sexual relationships usually last a lot longer. But it’s not just because of the act, it’s because of the warmth and the intimacy that it creates.
‘You have to be nice to each other upon occasion.’
Goldie – who got up close and personal with an alien recently – also stressed the importance of ‘liking the person’ that you are dating and accepting that you won’t both think the same about a lot of things.
‘Most people that have been together for a long time, I think, share one thing in common,’ Kurt continued to E! News.
‘And that is that after that many years together, you will have experienced just about everything there is to experience together and understand all the ups and downs and what it means.
‘I just love the fact that we met and we still doing it. We still like being together.’
Goldie and Kurt first met in 1966 while on the set of The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, but were married to other people at the time.
They eventually found love nearly two decades later, and have been inseparable ever since.
Although their romance has been going strong for more than 40 years, they have no intension of walking down the aisle anytime soon.
‘I’ve been going with my girl for 40 years. It’s come up in conversation whereas it never used to,’ Kurt told Extra of their future plans. ‘We had both been married, we had both done that.
‘And you know what? We lived our life. We’ve had our family, our family continues to grow. It’s fantastic.’
Goldie shared a similar outlook in a chat with Women’s Day in 2007, adding: ‘I already feel devoted and isn’t that what marriage is supposed to do? So as long as my emotional state is in a state of devotion, honesty, caring and loving, then we’re fine.
‘We have raised our children brilliantly; they are beautiful people.
‘We did a great job there and we didn’t have to get married to do that. I like waking up every day and seeing that he is there and knowing that I have a choice. There is really no reason to marry.’
