To boost agricultural productivity and support local farmers, the Gombe state government has announced plans to procure 2,500 metric tonnes of fertiliser.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, stated this while briefing journalists shortly after the State Executive Council meeting at Government House, Gombe, Monday.
“The fertiliser will be made available to farmers at a subsidised rate of ₦22,000 per bag, significantly lower than the prevailing market price of ₦45,000,” he stated.
He added that the decision comes as part of the state’s commitment to ensuring food security and sustainable agricultural practices.
“By providing affordable fertiliser, the government hopes to enhance crop yields and improve overall agricultural output in the region,” he said.
