Child star Matt Prokop, who was in High School Musical 3, has been arrested after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
Prokop, 33, has a history of domestic violence. His ex-partner, Modern Family star Sarah Hyland, obtained a restraining order against him after he allegedly choked her during a row.
He has now been arrested after he allegedly pushed his girlfriend and slammed her head into ‘something’ in Texas, US, Victoria PD Sergeant Dailey told TMZ.
Dailey said she had suffered enough injuries to ‘warrant’ an arrest.
Police claimed that when they were taking Prokop into custody he tried to pull away and run from them.
He is being charged with ‘aggravated assault family and resisting arrest.’
In 2014, Hyland, 33, claimed Prokop abused her both verbally and physically during the last four years of their relationship.
In legal documents relating to the restraining order seen by TMZ, Hyland claimed Prokop pinned her against a car during an argument about her outfit and repeatedly called her a ‘c***’ as he choked her.
‘His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak. I was scared and in fear for my life,’ she said.
Hyland then asked her TV mum Julie Bowen to help her ‘peacefully end the relationship’ at her home but when Prokop saw she wasn’t alone he ‘ran outside into the backyard and began screaming’ before throwing a lighter at her.
After the split, Hyland claimed Prokop ‘relentlessly bombarded me with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voice mails including his ‘own suicide threats.’
In October 2014, Hyland was granted a three-year restraining order against Prokop. It required him to stay at least 300 feet away from her and not to contact her.
Prokop’s first acting role was a brief appearance on Hannah Montana followed by a walk-on role in The Office.
His other TV credits include Modern Family, opposite his then-girlfriend Hyland, Good Luck Charlie and In the Motherhood.
Prokop’s best-known role was as Jimmie ‘Rocket Man’ Zara in High School Musical 3: Senior Year. It also starred the likes of Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Tisdale.
His last acting role was in 2013 film April Apocalypse. He has not acted since Hyland’s restraining order was granted.
