An officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), whose name was not ascertained, was on Friday knocked down by a hit-and-run driver in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.
Blueprint gathered that the officer was trying to stop the driver in front of the government secretariat, Abere, when he was hit and the driver ran away.
Findings showed that the incident happened on the road very close to the office of the FRSC in the town.
An eyewitness, Mr. Toba Adeolu, explained that the driver of the car had moved closer to the officers before the victim tried to stop him.
“Other officers ran away when they discovered that the car had moved closer but the affected officer did not run. The car hit him and the driver did not wait,” Adeolu said.
An officer of the FRSC, Inyang Umoh, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that the victim was alive and responding to treatment.
