Nicole Kidman is truly ageless.
The Bombshell actress, 56, looked absolutely incredible in some recent pictures shared on social media of her brilliant golden get up she wore to accept the American Film Institute’s lifetime achievement award.
Taking to the stage at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on Saturday night, Kidman accepted the award previously taken home by the likes of Bette Davis, Alfred Hitchcock, Gene Kelly, Barbara Streisand, Tom Hanks, and Julie Andrews.
But before she left for the starry event, Nicole took some pictures of her outfit in front of a luscious garden backdrop.
The swimming pool’s shimmering surface paled in comparison to her sequin-studded gold dress, which twinkled in the sunshine as it draped to the floor, perfectly complimenting her strawberry blonde hair.
Fans were in awe of the look, as one follower called Jarett declared it her ‘best yet’.
‘You are beautiful, and congratulations on your AFI Lifetime Achievement honour,’ added @kutruefan, while her Expats co-star Sarayu Blue said: ‘What a beautiful celebration of you and all your brilliance!! You looked absolutely radiant.’
This comes after Nicole shared a throwback video of her starring in 1983 film Bush Christmas – her debut on the big screen in which she looks totally unrecognisable.
Gone are the silky blonde locks, and instead 14-year-old Nicole sported curly brown hair and a farming-appropriate costume as she portrayed Helen Thompson, the daughter of a cattle farmer in rural Australia, for the festive flick.
Alongside the throwback footage, Nicole wrote: ‘This 14 year old girl could have never predicted all the talented people she would get to work with and the many different characters she would get to play.
‘So excited to celebrate with so many friends and peers on Saturday with the @AmericanFilmInstitute xx’
The glitzy evening saw Nicole showered with love from fellow stars – including Meryl Streep who presented her with the award – and her husband, musician Keith Urban.
On accepting the award, Nicole said ‘big love’ had been the consistent theme throughout her life.
Pointing out Keith and her daughters Sunday and Faith, Nicole said: “Right there is the love of my life and the loves of my life.
‘My daughters have never been anywhere publicly with me on a red carpet, tonight was their first night.’
Taking to the stage to honour his wife, Keith said Nicole ‘has a little bit of a mantra and that is “choose love”’.
He added: ‘She always chooses that phrase she lives by – choose love. She has the capacity to love like no other I’ve met, and I know tonight’s all about her body of work so far, but next year will be 20 years that I’ve been madly in love with you.’
Four-time Grammy winner Keith recalled meeting Kidman at an event titled G’Day LA in January 2005, saying he tried to ‘play it cool’ but felt he was ‘meeting a real life princess’ who had a ‘truly otherworldly aura’.
He added: ‘I did manage to get her phone number on a tiny piece of paper, and I carried that number in my pocket for well over a week, I’d pull it out and look at it (and) put it back in my pocket. I was just scared, I was nervous to call her.
‘As prone as I was at the time to all sorts of delusional thinking, even I couldn’t stretch to think that this extraordinary woman would ever see anything in a guy like me.
‘That’s not me being humble, that’s literally how I saw myself and her.’
Keith recalled ‘finally’ plucking up the courage to call Nicole and the pair talked ‘like we’d known each other our whole lives’.
He said: ‘We got married in June 2006, and barely four months into our marriage, my addictions that I had done really nothing about, blew our marriage to smithereens and I went into the Betty Ford Centre for three months.
‘Four months into a marriage (and) I’m in rehab for three months, with no idea what’s going to happen to us. If you want to see what love in action really looks like, give that a whirl.
‘Nic pushed through every negative voice, I’m sure even some of her own, and she chose love and here we are tonight, 18 years later.’
Keith explained Nicole’s ‘passion for being alive’, describing her as ‘endlessly curious’ and someone who dives headfirst ‘with little to no thinking at all of the consequences’.
