TLC has been forced to cancel shows after Tionne ‘T-Box Watkin’s was diagnosed with an ‘abdominal blockage’.

Formed in 1990 in Atlanta, Georgia, the girl group’s best-known line-up included Tionne, Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes, and Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas.

The group enjoyed huge success in the 90s, with nine top-ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including four number-one singles – Creep, Waterfalls, No Scrubs and Unpretty.

They are also the best-selling American girl group of all time, having sold over 65 million records worldwide.

Although they are currently touring around the United States, the group had to cancel two shows after Tionne, 54, suffered ‘sudden and severe nausea, vomiting and intense abdominal cramps’ after a performance in Toledo, Ohio on Thursday.

In a statement shared on the group’s Instagram Stories, Tionne and Rozonda explained what happened to their bandmate, who was then immediately seen by a doctor who diagnosed her with ‘abdominal blockage’.

The medical professional then advised them to cancel TLC’s show at the New York State Fair in Syracuse, New York, on Friday, August 23, and a performance on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Foxwoods Resort Technology in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

She was due to be released from hospital today.

The statement also read: ‘Tionne deeply regrets having to cancel these shows and extends her sincere apologies to all her fans and the event promoters

‘The decision to cancel was made under the advisement of her physician, who required her to stay in the hospital overnight to undergo a CT scan to assess the severity of her condition.’

It concluded by sharing that TLC was ‘committed to rescheduling the cancelled shows’, adding an apology to fans, particularly those who ‘travelled long distances to attend’.

‘The group appreciates the understanding and support,’ it added.

Tionne later went on to share an update with fans.

‘I’m on The Mend!!! This Was Just One Of Those Unexpected Things That I Had No Control Over! I Look Forward To Making It Up 2 You All… And Hopefully I’ll Get Out Of The Hospital Soon!!! As Soon As Tomorrow If All Goes Well!!! Thank You For Understanding… Blessings Always,’ she posted on Instagram.

A few months ago, TLC had to cancel tour dates in Canada due to Tionne and crew members being struck down with the flu, with the singer losing her voice and being advised by doctors not to perform.

The band is now a duo consisting of Tionne and Rozonda after the death of Lopes in a car accident in 2002.
