Huw Edwards’ wife has reportedly filed for divorce following his conviction.

The disgraced BBC presenter, 63, admitted three charges of making indecent photographs of children as young as seven in court in August.

He pleaded guilty at Westminster Magistrates’ Court  after convicted paedophile Alex Williams sent him illegal images on WhatsApp.

Edwards was spared jail after being handed a six-month prison sentence suspended by two years (meaning he avoids jail if he doesn’t commit another offence in that time).

He will also be required to complete a sex offender programme, and has been placed on the sex offenders register for seven years.

His wife Vicky Flind, who released a statement last year naming Edwards as the BBC presenter who had paid thousands of pounds to a young person for sexually explicit images, before the truth of his behaviour came to light, has now reportedly filed for divorce.

A source said: ‘Vicky had enough of Edwards a long time ago but this is the final nail in the coffin of their relationship.

‘He’s put her and their family through hell, so this was inevitable. Unsurprisingly, they separated a long time ago and Edwards has been living elsewhere, but it is now official.’

They added to The Sun: ‘Vicky is not talking to him and they now only communicate via lawyers.’

This comes after reports by Mail Online that Edwards put his six-bedroom Dulwich home up for sale for £4,750,000.

It’s said he and Flind, who share five children together, bought the property in 2006 for £1.85million.

It had been widely reported that Edwards and Flind split up in April this year, and that he had moved out of the family home.

A source previously told The Sun: ‘They separated quite a long time ago but have not announced it publicly.

‘Huw has been living elsewhere for a while.’

The couple have not publicly addressed the reports.

Flind, who is a TV editor, hit headlines last year when she revealed that her husband was the unnamed BBC presenter at the centre of allegations, expressing that her decision to go public was ‘primarily out of concern for his mental well-being and to protect our children.’

The couple got engaged in 1993, and have largely kept their private light out of the spotlight for 30 years.

The couple have five children together, all of whom are now adults. They have three sons, Dan, Sammy, and Amos, and two daughters, Hannah and Rebecca.

Following Edwards’ sentencing, which has drawn criticism from the public, the BBC issued a statement, saying: ‘We are appalled by his crimes.

‘He has betrayed not just the BBC, but audiences who put their trust in him.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted Edwards’ rep for comment.
