Media personality and former OAP Toolz Oniru has reacted to clergyman, Pastor Tobi Adegboyega’s deportation saga.
Kemi Filani reported on Wednesday that the clergyman lost his legal battle against deportation from the UK following allegations of financial misconduct. The founder of SPAC Nation was exposed for misusing his church funds amounting to £1.87 million.
An immigration tribunal ruled that the clergyman, who has been living in the UK unlawfully since overstaying his visitor’s visa in 2005, should be deported to Nigeria.
Reacting to it, Toolz stated that she refuses to refer to him as a pastor as she expressed disappointment at how he is soiling the name of his Hollywood actor nephew, John Boyega. Toolz noted how John never claimed him, yet his name had been dragged into his mess.
She wrote, “John Boyega never claimed this fellow (I refuse to say Pastor) and see how his name has been dragged into this mess. Pøor guy”.
Toolz isn’t the only one who has commented on it. Social media critic Solomon Buchi had dragged Tobi’s friend, Daddy Freeze, as he noted how he would have ranted on social media if a Nigerian pastor was involved in such a scandal. Describing him as anywhere belle face, Solomon called him a shameless coward houseboy to a dubious UK overstayer.
Breaking his silence in an Instagram video, Tobi Adegboyega told his supporters not to panic as he stated that he was at home and had succeeded against several challenges and hurdles in the UK. He told Nigerians to be proud of him, as he has survived a lot.
This isn’t the first time, the clergyman has been embroiled in a saga. Last year, the clergyman was embroiled in a messy scandal after Super Eagles player Kayode Olanrewaju, filed a N1 billion lawsuit against him for being in a sexual relationship with the footballer’s wife. The footballer alleged that his wife’s relationship with Adegboyega hasn’t been discreet, with the pair seen openly attending parties and sharing intimate moments in public.
Since gaining fake, Tobi Adegboyega has gotten lots of criticisms. In October, Buchi had lashed out at Pastor Tobi, for going clubbing with Davido. Buchi called him a shame to the office of a pastor, as he admonished him to leave pastoral calling and continue his lavish lifestyle.
Similarly, the media aide to Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success expressed disappointment at Pastor Tobi for inviting Davido to perform at his birthday party. He stated that his action was an embarrassment to the gospel and he should ask God for forgiveness. He questioned why the clergyman was fond of bringing embarrassment to the gospel as he admonished him to recognize identifying as a pastor.
