Intel Core Ultra 200 CPUs are on track for a Q3 release

Countering reports that Intel has delayed its Lunar Lake CPU release date, Team Blue has reassured that everything’s ticking along as planned. The idea is to get mobile Core Ultra 200V processors out the door in September, followed by Arrow Lake-S desktop models in October.

DigiTimes caused quite a stir last week, stating that Intel had nudged Lunar Lake from June to September. It makes sense to assume the chips were due this month, given Qualcomm and AMD have new AI processors just around the corner, but the company has since followed up with Benchlife to state that Q3 2024 was always the plan, just in time for the holidays.

Specifically, Benchlife states that Intel will introduce its thin notebook CPUs in “early September,” with an official launch window between September 17 and 24. It’ll then become available at retail from September 25, which is the day Intel’s Innovation event comes to a close.

  • Lunar Lake official launch – September 17-24, 2024
  • Lunar Lake retail launch – September 25, 2024 (at Intel Innovation)
  • Arrow Lake-S official launch – September 25, 2024 (at Intel Innovation)
  • Arrow Lake-S retail launch – October 2024
  • Arrow Lake-S non-K launch – January 2025

Unsurprisingly, all fingers point towards Arrow Lake-S debuting the same day as Lunar Lake, but it’ll take a little longer to hit digital shelves. Rumours suggest the desktop models will only become available at retail alongside Z890 motherboards in October. Intel will supposedly stick with its flagship K models initially, leaving non-K variants due around January 2025. If true, we’ll likely see them crop up around CES, along with B860 and H810 motherboards.

Since this info supposedly comes directly from the horse’s mouth, we can have a little more confidence that Q3 will be a busy time. As for the specifics, nothing’s set in stone, but it all looks rather promising.
