The first benchmark results of the upcoming Intel Core Ultra 7 268V processor have cropped up. The new Lunar Lake chip shows a 20% uplift in single-core performance over its predecessor.

Part of Intel’s next-gen Lunar Lake mobile CPU series, the Core Ultra 7 268V has been spotted on Geekbench 6’s database, delivering 2,713 points in single-core and 10,036 points in multi-core. This means its single-core performance is 20% higher than the flagship Meteor Lake CPU – Core Ultra 9 185H. Compared to the competition, this puts it around the performance of AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 365 Zen 5 chip. That said, the multi-core performance is lacking compared to AMD’s Zen 4 Hawk Point parts – probably due to the lower TDP.

Just recently, the Core Ultra 7 268V was the top chip in the Intel Core Ultra 200V family before losing its spot to a recently leaked Core Ultra 9 288V. Inside, we find four Lion Cove performance cores and four Skymont efficient cores clocked at 5GHz and 3.7GHz, respectively. However, note that the test results show a 3.3GHz base and 4.88GHz boost frequency, which may indicate untapped performance. This is likely caused by the Balanced Power Plan.

These specs are complemented by 12MB of cache and 32GB of on-package LPDDR5x-8533 RAM. The chip is also equipped with the Arc 140V iGPU featuring 8 Xe2 cores clocked at 2GHz. The above shares 17W in PL1 (base power) and 30W in PL2 (turbo power), making for a fairly efficient chip.

These chips are expected to launch next September, offering great efficiency in contrast to Intel’s desktop parts. We can’t wait to see how they would shuffle the handheld market, especially with those freshly baked Battlemage iGPUs.
