Jarrod Bowen is set to be available for West Ham United’s clash against Liverpool.
The England international has missed his side’s last two Premier League games against Fulham and Crystal Palace with a knee problem.
He did start for the Hammers in the Europa League game against Bayer Leverkusen in between those two fixtures, playing 72 minutes with David Moyes revealing the forward had taken injections to help him through the game.
West Ham welcome Jurgen Klopp’s side to the London Stadium in Saturday’s early kick off and with Bowen featuring in training this week, Moyes is hopeful he will be ready to start.
‘Jarrod Bowen is back training so there’s a good chance he’ll be available. We’ll still need to monitor him,’ Moyes told a press conference on Friday.
‘We have a couple of issues with centre-halves. Nayef [Aguerd] is not available. [Konstantinos] Mavropanos has a chance, but we’ll have to see how he is.’
Moyes’ future at West Ham remains under intense scrutiny with the club holding talks with both Julen Lopetegui and Ruben Almorim this week.
Moyes’ current deal expires at the end of the season and revealed in February he has been offered a new deal – but is eager to wait until the end of the season to decide his future.
‘The most important thing is things will need to be right between me and the club,’ Moyes said.
‘If we get that right, then we will see what happens but it will be at the end of the season. You can continue asking me the questions, I’ll be happy to take them but it’s not as if I have changed tracks, we’ve always said we will make it at the end of the season.
‘As far as I’m concerned that will still be the decision.’
West Ham are still in the race to qualify for Europe again with just six points separating them, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Chelsea.
‘We’re eighth in the Premier League, with four games to go. It’s an incredible position to be in, and we’ve played 12 or 13 games more than some teams who weren’t in Europe.
‘From our point of view, we’re in there, we’re still in with a shout and we’ll try to make it.’
