Jonathan Ross has shocked with a revelation regarding his hygiene habits – dropping the bombshell that he and wife Jane Goldman only shower once a week.
Speaking to comedians Josh Widdicombe and Rob Beckett on their Parenting Hell podcast, Jonathan, 63, gave viewers an eye-watering insight into his cleaning routine.
‘Do you think I give enough of a s**t about anything to bother spending any extra time on grooming whatsoever? I resent the fact that I have to shower,’ he revealed.
‘I sometimes go at least a week without showering – at least. So does Jane sometimes. We’re like a couple of hamsters in their own straw in that bed,’ he joked.
When asked when he last showered, Jonathan said: ‘It was yesterday. Why bother doing it two days in a row, what’s wrong with you? I didn’t do any exercise.’
He went on to reveal that he once went two weeks (!) without showering, confessing that not even the swimming pool could rid himself of the stink.
‘When we were on holiday – we have a place over in Florida – because it’s sunny and I’m jumping in and out the swimming pool, I probably didn’t shower properly for two weeks,’ Jonathan said.
‘And I had a smell under my right armpit, and I thought “That’s bad, I better get rid of that.”
‘So I had a shower, it didn’t go. Had another one, it didn’t go. I’m not making this up. I had to shave the hair off my armpit to get rid of it.
‘It was so ingrained. I just did the one. Why would you do two? The other one was still fresh. I favour one, so the right arm was doing all the work.’
However, he admitted that he does sometimes shower before taking a bath – so as not to be soaking in his own filth.
‘The other extreme though is I sometimes shower before having a bath. That’s the Japanese way,’ he said.
‘Because you’re lying in what’s coming off your body so why would you bathe first and lie in the debris?’ he asked.
This isn’t the first time that the star has overshared – being no stranger to controversy throughout a lengthy career in TV and radio.
He is perhaps most notable for his involvement in the infamous Sachsgate scandal with Russell Brand.
He also sparked further controversy by asking David Cameron if he had any sexual fantasies about Margaret Thatcher.
Jonathan met now-wife Jane Goldman when she was aged 16, and he was 26. The pair married in 1988, once she turned 18.
Jane has multiple screenwriting credits with director Matthew Vaughn, including Kingsman: The Golden Circle and X-Men: First Class.
She has worked as executive producer on Channel 4’s The Big Fat Quiz of the Year and presented her own show in 2003 – the paranormal investigation show Jane Goldman Investigates.
They have three children together in Honey, Harvey and Betty.
Thankfully, Jonathan did not divulge the children’s bathing habits during his eye-watering tell-all session.
