Jude Law has broken the internet by teasing the possibility of a sequel to his 00s Christmas classic The Holiday.
Released in 2006, the festive favourite follows Iris Simpkins (Kate Winslet) and Amanda Woods (Cameron Diaz) who swap homes for the holidays to escape their own relationship issues.
But they get more than they bargain for when they both meet and fall in love with local men, with Iris meeting Miles (Jack Black), a colleague of Amanda’s ex Ethan (Edward Burns), and Amanda getting to know Iris’ brother Graham (Jude Law).
On Thursday, Sherlock Holmes actor Jude reunited with The Holiday’s director Nancy Meyers for a celebratory lunch after receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
But that wasn’t what had fans cheering as the duo seemed to reveal a follow-up to The Holiday through a light-hearted skit posted on Instagram.
Filming Jude at the table, The Parent Trap director said: ‘Look who I’m having lunch with today – Jude Law! Congratulations on your so well-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, that’s amazing.
‘I don’t think I’ve seen you since we wrapped The Holiday speaking of which, I’ve seen you interviewed a lot and they keep asking you if there’s going to be a sequel – what do you think?’
The actor, who looked suave in a grey suit and white shirt, simply asked Nancy to give him a second.
He turned and placed his napkin and glasses on his head, referencing The Holiday’s hilarious Mr Napkin Head scene.
Nancy replied: ‘Is that a yes, Jude?’ to which he simply moved his head around chaotically.
The Instagram post sent fans into pandemonium, with many ‘pleading’ with Nancy to release a sequel.
‘Nancy this is not funny!!! You better not be messing with us!’ Breshaffer commented.
Yeswhit agreed, writing: ‘This is not the time of year to be messing around with our hearts, Nancy!’
Mariopaulalso said: ‘Girl don’t play with my feelings I’ve been watching this movie since I was 6.’
Simondavidkinberg pointed out they had ‘just casually broken the internet’ due to the influx of wild comments.
Many said it was ‘all they want for Christmas’ and Discogirl12 simply said: ‘We really all need this…. Its time.’
Lulamaybelle pleaded: ‘We desperately need you back in the director’s chair making another movie.’
Interior Bee Osborn said they could even use her cottage if they chose to make the film – so a set is sorted.
Jude recently revealed a shocking fact about the original picturesque Rosehill Cottage where Amanda stays during the film, sharing that it was not, in fact, based in the English countryside.
‘That cottage doesn’t exist,’ he confessed during an appearance on BBC Radio 2.
‘The director, she’s a bit of a perfectionist, toured that whole area and didn’t quite find the chocolate box cottage she was looking for. So she just hired a field and drew it and had someone build it.’
