Kano Court Issues Permanent Restraining Order Against Deposed Emirs

The Kano State High Court on Monday issued a permanent restraining order against Aminu Ado-Bayero and three other deposed Emirs.

The court’s ruling was delivered by Justice Amina Aliyu, the presiding judge.

The court prohibits the deposed emirs from parading themselves as Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano, or Karaye.

In her judgment, Justice Aliyu directed the deposed Emir and four other former Emirs to quickly hand over all the Emirate Traditional Royal Artefacts to the government and the substantive Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Justice Aliyu also ruled that the State Assembly Emirate Council Repeal Law 2024 was enacted in accordance with the Law, as enshrined in Section 4 of the Constitution.

Furthermore, she declared that the State Governor, Abba Yusuf, assenting to the law was also done perfectly in accordance with the Constitution.
