Katie Price has insisted she has ‘asked to go to prison’ but she thinks it would be unfair on taxpayers.

The 45-year-old former glamour model, who has been declared bankrupt for a second time, was fined £880 last week after driving a Range Rover in August 2023 without a licence or insurance.

She also received eight penalty points, bringing her total to 11, as well as being ordered to pay an additional £972 in costs, and Tory MP James Wild has insisted she should be jailed after a series of driving convictions.

Speaking on The Katie Price Show, she fired back: ‘There’s an MP who wants me off the road. I’m not even driving at the minute. And about all this driving stuff.

‘I don’t go on about it here but there’s so much discrimination around that as well. Every day people go into bankruptcies. I do pay it off, and I am paying it off.

‘I don’t need to hear some arsehole MP is trying to get me in prison. That’s good for taxpayers, innit? What would they gain with me in prison?

‘It would cost them more money to put me in prison than out. I have asked to go to prison but they won’t do it, so what do they want to do?’

Mr Wild has insisted sentencing guidelines over driving offences need to be overhauled to make sure ‘repeat driving offenders’ get ‘maximum sentences for reckless behaviour’.

As it stands, driving without insurance and without a licence can result in fines, penalty points and a possible driving ban, but neither is imprisonable.

Meanwhile, Katie has also addressed her bankruptcy, which she found out about on air, and insisted ‘the court stuff is noise in my head’.

‘What doesn’t help, what I’m sick to death of reading, “Yes Katie Price is in bankruptcy”. Every day people go in bankruptcy,’ she said.

‘We all know I’m in a bankruptcy. I don’t need to read it and hear it and it be smeared in my face. It’s not nice, it’s mentally damaging.

‘And when it says the reasons I can’t go to court, mentally – i don’t have to keep reading about it every day.’

While opening up about the situation on her podcast, she urged people to stop talking about the situation as she tries to ‘get on’ with her own life.

She added: ‘Just leave me alone. I’m trying to get on with my life. And it just brings up a bad period of my breakdown for why I got in that situation.

‘If I don’t go to work, no one else will. So, we keep going to The Priory a lot… to keep my head sane to concentrate on stuff.’
