Whoever stabbed a disabled man to death in his wheelchair on a London street remains at large, with police issuing a renewed call for information.
Jade Anthony Barnett, 38, ‘tried to get away’ from the attackers but died at the scene in Hackney.
Witness Darren Thomas, 47, told the Evening Standard how he saw three men in a car drive into Jade’s wheelchair set upon him with a Rambo knife as he fell onto the ground.
Two men, aged 28 and 21, were arrested after the shocking incident at 3.40pm on August 28, but they have now been released with no further action.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clark of the Met Police said today: ‘I want to reassure the local community that my team of experienced detectives is making good progress as we piece together the events that led to Jade’s murder and work to identify whoever is responsible.
‘But we still need your help. Jade was stabbed in the street during the middle of the day. I know there are people who have yet to come forward to police for whatever reason who will have seen what happened or taken pictures or video as events unfolded.
‘We have set up a dedicated portal so you can upload images and footage – please do this or get in contact so we can work together to provide answers to Jade’s loved ones about what happened to him and hold whoever is responsible to account.’
Police were called to Rushmore Road after receiving calls about Jade being stabbed.
The killer left the scooter at the scene along with the victim before fleeing, and a motive for the attack in the residential area of Lower Clapton is still not clear.
Jade’s mum Joyce Barnett told the Evening Standard: ‘He was loved by everyone around here.

‘He was a joy, he loved life. He wouldn’t hurt a fly and would never get involved in a fight.
‘How anyone could attack him in a wheelchair I don’t know. We want answers.’
Arsenal fan Jade lost a leg in a motorcycle accident in his teens but ‘bounced back’.
His sister Simone Barnett described him as a ‘cheerful and caring’ man, saying ‘Everybody is family, he’s just that character.’
Police said Jade’s family ‘continue to be supported by specially trained officers and are being kept updated with developments’.
