Fans of an iconic Noughties superhero drama have pointed out that its creator missed the ‘perfect opportunity’ to announce its reboot.
Showrunner Tim Kring is pitching a revival of Heroes, which tells the stories of ordinary people who discover they have superhuman powers, to major broadcasters and streamers.
But the news came a couple of days after the solar eclipse swept across North America and many viewers of the original show pointed out that would have been a more appropriate date.
That is because the natural phenomenon not only happens in Heroes’ first episode but is also a recurring theme throughout the series. It even features on the show’s logo.
Reacting to the announcement of the reboot on X, fan Zach quipped: ‘Maybe ya could’ve announced this … 2 days ago?’
Echoing Zach’s sentiment, Dyl added: ‘They had the perfect opportunity to announce this two days ago?’
Erik remarked: ‘All of a sudden after an eclipse? Hahahah that’s hilarious but I love it.’
Fans were also divided over the announcement after a 2015 reboot, Heroes Reborn, received a poor reception from fans and critics.
The 13-episode miniseries was a continuation of the original drama and followed several individuals with special powers who are fleeing vigilantes but must save the world.

However, Aushad said he was behind a reboot, commenting: ‘If they can find a cast with as much chemistry [as the original] it can be monumental.’
According to Deadline, the reboot is titled Heroes: Eclipsed and ‘is set years after the events of the original series as new evos are being awakened and discovering powers that will change their lives.’
The synopsis continued: ‘Featuring familiar villains and new enemies who once again will be attempting to suppress this next step in human evolution, it will be up to this new group of heroes to save the world.’
The original Heroes aired on NBC for four seasons from September 25, 2006, to February 8, 2010.
It starred actors including Hayden Panettiere, Kristen Bell, Zachary Quinto, Santiago Cabrera and Jack Coleman.
Throughout its run, Heroes earned a number of awards and nominations, including Primetime Emmy Awards, Golden Globes, People’s Choice Awards, and British Academy Television Awards.
