Liam Payne died last week while in Argentina and reports have now confirmed that the late One Direction star was on several drugs at the time of his death.
Payne, 31, died on October 16, after falling from his third-storey hotel room.
The late singer was staying at the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and local police are currently investigating his death.
Payne’s autopsy is still taking place but several sources have informed various outlets that several drugs were found in the singer’s system at the time of his death.
Sources told ABC that the substances found inside the singer included ‘pink cocaine’.
The recreational drug is a combination of methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA and others – as well as cocaine, crack, and benzodiazepine.
Sources also informed the outlet that a makeshift aluminium pipe used to ingest drugs was found in his hotel room.
It was also claimed that the singer’s body will remain in Argentina until the autopsy has been completed.
Payne’s father Geoff Payne arrived in the Argentina capital at the weekend to organise repatriations to bring his son’s body back to the UK.
While in the country he also attended a vigil outside the hotel alongside fans. Vigils for the late star have taken place across the country, including in Hyde Park in London on Sunday night.
Police in Buenos Aires have said a preliminary autopsy suggests Payne died from multiple injuries sustained in his fall that led to ‘internal and external haemorrhaging’ after falling from his hotel room balcony.
Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The singer began his career as a member of the hugely successful boyband One Direction, the group released a heartbreaking joint statement honouring their late friend.
‘We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.
‘The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us.
‘We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam.’
Horan, Malik, Tomlinson, and Styles also shared individual tributes dedicated to their ‘‘brother’, as they reminisced about fond memories with the star.
Payne leaves behind his son, Bear, seven, who he shares with Cheryl Cole, his parents, Geoff and Karen Payne and his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy.
