Liverpool are now odds-on favourites to win the Premier League following their 2-0 win over title rivals Manchester City on Sunday.

Goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah highlighted a relatively comfortable victory at Anfield, with Arne Gadgets now seemingly unstoppable having won 18 of his first 20 games in charge.

Following a dramatic weekend of Premier League action, Liverpool sit nine points clear at the top of the table after 13 games.

Their nearest challengers are Arsenal and Chelsea who secured big wins against West Ham and Aston Villa respectively.

Man City have now lost an unprecedented six of their last seven games in all competitions and have dropped out of the top-four, 11 points behind the Reds.

Liverpool are in as good a position now as they were when they won the league under Jurgen Klopp and while some are hesitant to call it early, some bookmakers believe the title race is done and dusted.

According to Betfair, the Reds are 4/7 to win the Premier League, with Arsenal their nearest challengers on 11/4.

Man City’s odds have drifted to 15/2, with Chelsea outsiders on 18/1 following their impressive start to life under Enzo Maresca.

The title race might be over but the battle for the top four and a coveted place in the Champions League is wide open as, remarkably, just five points separates Brighton in fourth and Bournemouth in 13th.

In contention are usual suspects Tottenham, Manchester United, Newcastle and Aston Villa who have suffered from inconsistent form, though the Red Devils’ 4-0 win over Everton suggests they could be a force to be reckoned with under Ruben Amorim.

Also in the fight are Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Fulham who have made unexpectedly impressive starts to the campaign, with the former in sixth, a point off the defending champions.

Nevertheless, Betfair anticipate there will be no great upset, with Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea odd-on to finish in the top-four.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher doesn’t see it that way however, predicting that Pep Guardiola’s floundering side face a fight to secure a UCL spot, having last failed to do so back in 2010.

‘I look at Arsenal and Chelsea and the way they’re looking right now, I think it will be difficult for Man City to finish above them if they don’t go into the market in January,’ the former England defender said on Sky Sports.

‘I go back a couple of years to the year Manchester City won the treble, Liverpool went to the Etihad in about April and got beat 4-1 and it could have been six or seven, they got absolutely battered.

‘You felt like it was the end of the Jurgen Klopp team but what it was was the end of the midfield. It was [Jordan] Henderson and Fabinho at the time.

‘No matter how good a manager you are you can’t fix that. I don’t think Pep can fix that in terms of midfield. You need the right players in there.

‘Right now I could see Manchester City losing another four or five games between now and the end of the season. I actually think Man City have a fight on their hands for top four.’
