UK weather has broken temperature records this week, with Wednesday being the hottest day of the year so far.

Londoners have been coping with the heatwave this week, with some enjoying it to the max while it has been less fun if you’re stuck inside in a muggy apartment.

The hot spell was good news for the thousands of revelers heading to this year’s Glastonbury in Somerset as forecast predicts a mostly dry festival.

Mercury in Wisley hit 30.5°C  in Wisley, Surrey, on Wednesday, the Met Office said.

With the summer solstice just gone, the UK gets plenty of light late into the evening. Shoeburyness in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, saw a whopping 14.3 hours of sunshine.

The last of the heatwave lingered above London, the far South East and East Anglia on Thursday before cooler air began flowing in from the Atlantic.

As London enjoyed the last of the warm spell, northwestern Scotland and Northern Ireland were hit by ‘unseasonably’ rainy weather with strong gusts, with the low pressure moving across rest of Scotland, north of England and Wales into Friday morning.

Here is what the weather has in store for today in London and across UK.

London weather

While the weather outlook has changed in parts of the country, London still gets plenty of sunshine today.

The morning commute should be less sweaty than the previous days, with temperatures hitting 15°C by 8am.

The sun will peek through the clouds throughout the day, with maximum temperatures of 23°C – a walk in the park compared to the past week.

While the temperature is lower, the UV level will remain ‘high,’ and pollen levels ‘very high’ in the capital.

The Met Office’s London weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday looks promising.

Both days are set for highs of around 24°C  – good news if you’re planning a picnic or watching the Euro 2024 games outside.

Glastonbury Festival weather forecast

Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset, becomes the seventh biggest UK city for the weekend as around 210,000 people flock to the site.

The weather at Glasto will be quintessentially British over the weekend thanks to cooler air from the Atlantic.

Today, revelers can expect sunny intervals changing to light showers by late morning.

Saturday will see highs of 21°C  with some blue skies, with Sunday forecast showing around 20°C with overcast and sunny intervals.
