Loose Women star Frankie Bridge has accused a guest on the show of dishing out a ‘backhanded compliment’.
Frankie, 35, is best known for being a member of girl group The Saturdays but was also previously part of S Club Juniors.
She then went on to pursue a solo career, but her debut album was shelved so she could focus on motherhood.
In the years since Frankie has appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and Loose Women.
However, during today’s appearance on the ITV lunchtime programme, Frankie found herself in a slightly awkward moment.
Joining the panel for the first time was 24-year-old social media influencer GK Barry, with Kaye Adams and Denise Welch making jokes throughout the show that Frankie was no longer the youngest to appear.
During one discussion, GK (real name Grace Eleanor Keeling) was asked about how she decided to pursue a career as a social media influencer.
After explaining how she was studying to become a camera operator, she said she ‘fell into’ her current career but then spoke about her earlier aspirations.
‘You know what. I always wanted to be one of The Saturdays,’ she said.
‘When I grew up, I got no GCSE’s because I just thought, “I’ll just be Frankie”.’
As the audience laughed, Frankie looked somewhat taken aback and quipped: ‘That felt like a bit of a backhanded compliment.’
‘I’m stupid and I can be Frankie.’
Trying to clarify, GK jumped in: ‘I just thought I could be in a girl band, but I couldn’t sing.’
Jokingly, Frankie added: ‘That doesn’t matter!’
Making light of the miscommunication, Kaye told Denise: ‘I love it when the young one’s fight.’
Earlier in the show, Frankie joked she was ‘fuming’ over no longer being the ‘baby’ of the show, which first launched in 1999, the year GK was born.
Welcoming Grace, Kaye announced: ‘She is making Loose Women history as our first ever panellist born in the same year when Loose Women started in 1999. Frankie, you are no longer the youngest. You’re not the baby anymore.’
Frankie joked she was ‘fuming’ before Kaye addressed GK: ‘Well we are delighted to have you here, well me and Denise.’
The influencer then said: ‘I know there is a feud now and I was so excited to meet Frankie but now there is a feud.’
After the studio burst into laughter, Frankie sarcastically hit back: ‘It’s alright, I don’t like you yet, go away.’
Making light of the situation, GK joked there was now a ‘feud’ between the pair, with Frankie continuing the banter.
‘I don’t like you yet, go away!’ she said.
Frankie has appeared as a panellist on Loose Women since 2020.
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV1.
