Love is Blind UK is mere days away from airing its reunion episode, and while the trailer hints at a few explosive moments, it seems plenty of drama is already taking place online.
The popular reality TV show follows a group of singles as they put themselves out there in a bid to find love, but there is a twist in that they do all of this without ever seeing the person.
Once they have found an emotional connection, they face their partner, and while some have an immediate physical attraction, others have to work hard to make it click.
After premiering in 2020, the American show, which has been compared to Married At First Sight and The Bachelor, has become one of Netflix’s most-watched programmes, spawning six seasons as well as multiple international formats, including in the UK.
The first season of the local version premiered on August 7 of this year and after three weeks and a rollercoaster of emotions, three couples—Bobby and Jasmine, Steve and Sabrina, and Benaiah and Nicole—tied the knot, while contestants Freddie, Catherine, Ollie, Demi, Tom, Maria, and Sam remained single.
While it’s unclear if any of the couples remain together since filming, fans seem to have spotted a clue that could indicate a brand new couple ahead of the reunion episode, which is set to air on August 26.
Rumours began swirling earlier this week that Sam and Catherine may have found love with each other after failing to find it in front of the cameras.
The news may not come as a surprise to some fans as a memorable moment from the season saw Catherine tell her on-screen fiancé Freddie that Sam looked just like her ex-boyfriend.
Soon after the revelation, the wedding episode took place, in which Freddie walked back down the aisle as a single man, leaving Catherine feeling ‘unwanted’.
It prompted many to take to X, where they shared their thoughts on who should be coupled up, with Sam and Catherine considered a good match.
Now, Sam has taken to TikTok, seemingly responding to the online narrative.
Sharing a short video to his social media account with the caption ‘My side of the story…’, the TV star addressed criticism he has been receiving from fans since the show aired.
‘Hey everyone, it’s Sam from London here,’ he said. ‘I just wanted to quickly come on and just clear the air with some of the things that are being said about me caring about my appearance more than other people.’
Sam continued to say it is an ‘upsetting’ narrative and that it’s ‘just not true’, seemingly making light of the claims by doing his skin care and checking his hair.
He then told viewers to wait one second as he takes a phone call with Catherine: ‘Hey Catherine, yeah babe, I’m just filming a TikTok video. Just give me two seconds.’
He told his co-star he would ‘be there’ and urged her to ‘trust’ him multiple times, appearing to refer to his overuse of the term when he was on the show.
Sam ended the call with ‘Okay I think I love you’.
While the video appeared to be a joke, noting his ‘I think I love you,’ that he said to Nicole after proposing to her in the pods, some fans quite liked the idea of him and Catherine being together.
‘I think they’re better suited,’ Catheholmes94 wrote.
NadiaSK8 agreed, adding: ‘They deserve each other!!’ While Liberianprncess said: ‘I called it!! They deserve each other!’
Elsewhere, others called out his joke. Sarcsnarks wrote: ‘It’s a joke and references what was said on the show. The rest is just for clout and to gain followers’.
Bumblesmcgee added: ‘This is quite obviously a joke lol why are we all so gullible’.
While Sam and Catherine have not given any further hints about whether they are dating, fans won’t have to wait long to find out, with the reunion airing on Monday.
Watch the Love is Blind reunion on Netflix on August 26.
