Tesco has issued an urgent recall for one of its products after a labelling error made the product potentially unsafe to consume.
Those who bought Tesco brand’s 10 Cooked Beef Slices may have purchased packages which show an incorrect use-by date.
The UK Food Standards Agency has since recalled all of the Beef Slices and urged customers not to eat the beef slices.
The affected products have labels which read best before January 24, but they were intended to read December 24.
In a statement, the grocery giant said: ‘We are recalling a specific date code of Tesco 10 Cooked Beef Slices 125g due to the incorrect use by Date code of Jan 24 printed on packs, instead of Dec 24.
‘An extension of the Use by Date could pose a risk to health if the product is kept past the correct shelf life of the product.’
Those who did purchase the slices are able to return it to any Tesco store for a full refund, with no receipt required.
