Manchester United are keen to speak with Alphonso Davies in January to discuss a free transfer move to Old Trafford.
The Canadian is out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to agree fresh terms with Bayern Munich.
Real Madrid have long been touted as Davies’ next destination but the La Liga giants are now focusing on right-back and centre-back, given the injuries to Dani Carvajal and Militao.
That’s created an opportunity for United to make a move for Davies and Bild say they have made a request with the left-back’s agent for a meeting in January.
It comes as Bayern refuse to meet Davies’ wage demands of around £15m-a-year with a £14m signing on fee.
Given Ruben Amorim’s style of play, Davies perfectly fits the bill in a left wing-back slot in the Portuguese’s 3-4-3 system.
United would be happy to meet Davies’ demands, given he would cost around £70m on the open market.
Diogo Dalot and Tyrell Malacia have shared the left wing back slot under Amorim.
Luke Shaw, who had been earmarked for the position, is set for a further stint on the sidelines after injuring his hamstring.
