Manchester United plan to sign a new, young left-back this summer after having their campaign disrupted by injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
The Red Devils have been without an orthodox left-back for large parts of the season.
Sergio Reguilon was signed on loan last August after Shaw was ruled out for three months but he returned to Spurs in January.
That was due to the medical department’s belief that Tyrell Malacia, who has been out since last May, was set to return from a knee injury.
But the Dutchman is unlikely to play this season after suffering several setbacks, while Shaw is expected back in May after suffering a hamstring injury.
United lined up with Victor Lindelof at left-back against Everton on Saturday, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka is currently sidelined.
Fabrizio Romano says the club have therefore decided to sign a new left-back and they’re scouring the market for the right profile.
United want a ‘young’ left-back, who could challenge Shaw for his position.
It’s said the shortlist will be compiled when the board’s structure if finalised, with INEOS currently working on settling on a structure.
Omar Berrada will arrive from Manchester City as CEO, while Dan Ashworth is serving gardening leave at Newcastle United before becoming the club’s new sporting director.
