EastEnders fans are in for a huge shock next week as Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) returns – and reveals he is dying.

You heard us right.

The dastardly business man has been absent from Walford for quite some time, last seen when his family threw him out into the street after he attacked wife Suki (Balvinder Sopal).

He’d also tried to con Kat Mitchell (Jessie Wallace) out of her divorce settlement, so it’s safe to say when he shows his face, it won’t be a welcome surprise!

In his absence, fans have been rife with speculation over just how he might return to the BBC One soap.

However, as his reign of terror over Albert Square finally comes to a close, it’s left us wondering – is he telling the truth? Or is this just another of his vicious lies?

Next week, Suki and her girlfriend Eve (Heather Peace) are taken aback when Nish arrives on the doorstep of No. 41, hand delivering a copy of his divorce paperwork after claiming both were sent to his new address.

With the women fearful that he could enter their home at anytime, the wider family agree to change the locks.

However, back to his manipulative ways, it’s not long before he convinces granddaughter Avani (Aaliyah James) to let him in.

As Suki, Eve, Ravi (Aaron Thiara) and Vinny (Shiv Jolata) agree to hear him out, he throws a huge curveball and tells them that he’s terminally ill – and of course they don’t believe him.

Throwing him out again, he insists that he’s telling the truth and tracks down Priya (Sophie Khan Levy) to try and convince her. Later, still desperate to be believed, he finds Nugget (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) at McKlunky’s and asks to be heard out.

Noticing them chatting, Ravi rushes over and shoves Nish to the floor, and he is rushed to hospital.

As the week progresses, Eve’s birthday is overshadowed by his supposed condition, and Suki asks the Panesar’s to vote on whether to allow him back into their lives. When Nish comes to plead his case, everyone is thrown by his apparent sincerity and depths of desperation.

Ravi is left conflicted when Nugget says he’d never let his dad die alone, regardless of his actions, but then another shock rattles the community…

As the week draws to a close, Nish has an appointment with his consultant.

Is there more to his illness than initially meets the eye?
