UK fans of the hit show Brassic are in for a treat this bank holiday weekend, as the mischievous show just landed on Netflix.
Announcing the news on social media, the streaming platform wrote: ‘Big news: Seasons 1 to 4 of BRASSIC are now playing on @NetflixUK!’
Season five of the series is only available on Sky Go and Now TV.
Created by actor Joe Gilgun, 40, and writer Danny Brocklehurst, 53, the show, named after the Cockney slang for skint, first aired on Sky One in 2019 and has quickly become a fan favourite in the country.
Starring much loved actress Michelle Keegan, 37, the series, which has five seasons, is set in Northern England and follows Vinnie, played by Joe, and his friends in their petty crime endeavours.
The friends have been together since they were kids, but their dynamic must navigate unknown territory when Dylan, played by Damien Molony, 40, is faced with the difficult decision of moving out of town with his girlfriend.
The comedy-drama series, also starring Aaron Heffernan, 34, Ryan Sampson, 38, Joanna Higson, 41, Parth Thakerar, 40, and Dominic West, 54, has earned a slew of Bafta Award nominations.
Previously available only on Sky One and Sky Max, the show’s move to Netflix has come as a welcome surprise to fans, who have taken to X to share their excitement.
GJRoberts92 wrote: ‘Great show, and very happy I can watch 4 seasons without adverts now’.
Other fans agreed with YNWA2306, praising the platform for their choice: ‘Good choice brilliant show great cast.’
Tfuknmac added: ‘Brassic hitting Netflix, bound to be everyone’s new favourite tv show’.
Meanwhile, BadWilf told users of the social media app that the show is ‘well worth a watch’ for those who haven’t seen it.
The announcement comes after the Manchester Evening News revealed earlier this week that in addition to confirmation of the show’s sixth season, which is currently in post-production, it has been renewed for season seven.
Danny wrote in a statement: ‘Season seven! How did this happen?!?’
He added: ‘Brassic is a delight to make and it’s a privilege to create more chaos for our loyal and loving audience.’
While Sky Studios Head of Comedy Commissioning, Alex Moody told the news outlet, ‘We couldn’t be happier that Vinnie and the gang will return for another raucous ride, bringing heart, laughs and Farmer Jim’s unrivalled swear-count back to Sky for a seventh series.’
And the good news doesn’t stop there, as Brassic has received three National Television Awards nominations, including being shortlisted in the Comedy category.
Elsewhere, one of the main stars, Michelle, has been nominated for best Drama Performance for her role in Fool Me Once, and the show has also been nominated for New Drama.
