Matheus Nunes has signed a five-year, £53 million ($67 million) contract with Manchester City, the club has announced.
As a result of Kevin De Bruyne’s six-month hamstring injury absence, Kevin Nunes joins the midfield as a replacement. After Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol, and Jérémy Doku, he is the fourth player that City has signed during the transfer window.
Nunes stated, “I’m obviously delighted to be here.” “It’s a fantasy realized. I’ve always desired to play for a major English club, and this year, God granted me that opportunity. I’m overjoyed and ecstatic; I can’t wait to get started.”
City pursued several options to enhance their midfield this summer, including West Ham’s Lucas Paquetá, but ultimately settled on Nunes, who impressed in his Premier League debut after joining Wolves from Sporting CP last summer.
Nunes, born in Brazil, has 11 appearances for Portugal and participated in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
