Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that there is nothing wrong with club owners visiting the dressing room during game time following reports that Chelsea co-owners Behdad Eghbali and Todd Boehly visit the dressing room after every game this season.
Last season. The media and supporters criticized Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly for visiting the dressing room.
However, Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that it is normal practice in his previous clubs, Espanyol, Southampton, Tottenham, and Paris Saint-Germain, claiming owners used to visit the dressing room before and after games.
What did Mauricio Pochettino say about Chelsea owners visiting the dressing Room?
He said at a Press conference ahead of Chelsea Caraboa’s clash with Brighton: “I like when the owners come. In all my career at Espanyol, Southampton, with Tottenham, Paris Saint Germain. I think it’s good that the owner came to the dressing room, it’s the way in which they approach the players is most important. If they are in a good way and the correct way, they are very welcome. After my press conference, after all of the media, the game against Aston Villa, they came and shared with us.
“They also did it with Liverpool and Luton and Nottingham Forest. They came with Paul and Laurence, Behdad and sometimes Todd also and we talk about the game. I don’t see in a bad way. For me it’s good always if they share with us and then can say hello to the players. If they came for a speech, that is different. In the way they came, they are very welcome. They own the club, I think they can do what they want. They are in a very good way we are glad they shared time with us. When we win and it’s good things, and to share when we are suffering like on Sunday.”
Asked if he expected a difficult job at Chelsea, He added: “I think it’s all important because the Premier League is important for Chelsea, no? If you want to play in the European Cup next season. It’s still so early, it’s strange of course but that is football, it always happens. From my experience in Premier League, more than 10 years now always some club at the top maybe drops and some club, I remember Southampton or Leicester, that situation happens. We need to be consistent and to create a project where we can be consistent.”
On Wednesday, Chelsea will host Brighton at Stamford Bridge in 1/16 of the Carabao Cup.
