The North- east Multi Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP), a World Bank funded project aimed at rebuilding and restoring means of livelihood in the North-east ravaged by Boko Haram has flagged off the distribution of agricultural kits and equipment to over 1, 000 farmer groups across the 21 local government areas of Adamawa state.

Speaking at the event Tuesday in Yola, the state coordinator of the project, Dr.Maurice Vonobolki, said the intervention is coming at a critical time when farming communities in the state are facing unprecedented challenges.

He said the intervention is aimed at rejuvenating the agricultural sector to boost food production.

He added that the event marks a second phase of intervention in the agricultural sector as the first phase focused on stabilisation and recovery.

He stated that in addition to 1,260 beneficiaries who received small remnants, the second phase targets registered agricultural cooperative societies with focus on value chain development and sustainability geared towards evolving the cooperative entities into micro, small and medium enterprises to enhance the economic well-being of their members, communities and the state.

The coordinator further enumerated some interventions carried out by MCRP in the agricultural sector of the state which includes rehabilitation of Magar irrigation project in Madagali local government.
