Even celebrities have to navigate meeting the in-laws and for Millie Bobby Brown that’s none other than the legendary Jon Bon Jovi.
Turns out the 80s music icon had no pre-conceived notions about his soon to be daughter-in-law as he wasn’t even ‘aware’ of her Stranger Things fame.
Millie, 20, got engaged to his son Jake Bongiovi, 21, in April last year after two years of dating to the shock of everyone.
Despite her huge fame, Jon, 62, has rather awkwardly not seen Millie’s breakout role as Eleven in Netflix’s smash hit sci-fi series.
‘I can’t tell you that I honestly was very aware of it,’ the Bon Jovi frontman confessed in a new interview.
Speaking to The Independent, he continued: ‘I think it was for another generation, but I do admire her work ethic.’
The rock legend added: ‘Millie is a movie star. We just went to the premiere of Damsel with her, and Jake’s got his first movie out right now, I’m happy for him.’
This isn’t quite what Jon told Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM radio show when the pair got engaged, where he said ‘of course’ he’s seen Stranger Things.
Jon also praised his son for the engagement, saying he supported the young lovebirds and that their age didn’t matter.
The It’s My Life hitmaker also got married young, to high school sweetheart Dorothea Hurley and the pair are still together.
He told Andy in May: ‘I don’t know if age matters. If you find the right partner and you grow together… my advice really is growing together. [That’s] wise.
‘I think all of my kids have found the people they think they can grow together with and we like ‘em all.’
For her engagement announcement, Millie used Taylor Swift lyrics for her caption, which read: ‘I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ’em all.’
Millie and Jake were first linked to each other in June 2021 when they were pictured out and about in New York holding hands.
The pair have been inseparable ever since and the Enola Holmes actress was even joined by her fiancé and his parents on her latest red carpet for Damsel.
