Young Sheldon star Raegan Revord comments on her future as Missy beyond the show. Iain Armitage’s Sheldon may have been the center of The Big Bang Theory prequel’s attention when it started, but as it evolved its storytelling, other members of the Coopers started to become prominent players in the story. Sheldon’s siblings, in particular, are now fan favorites on their own. But while Georgie’s future is confirmed to play out on the screen, what lies for Missy ahead is quite bleak.
Speaking exclusively with Screen Rant, Revord expresses her desire to revisit Missy down the road after Young Sheldon ends. Granted that she does want to explore other roles and endeavors in her career, she says that there’s a special place in her heart for Missy, so she would be more than happy to play her again in the future. Read her full quote below:
I would love to [and] I definitely want to. I’ve said this a few times. But comedy, it’s very easy to be pigeonholed into. And so I do want to explore the options. I’m the type of person that I can see myself acting in any type of genre: drama or sci fi, whatever. So I do want to explore the options and see what else is out there. But I love Missy dearly. She’s the first big character I’ve played and I felt I fell in love with her right off the bat from the audition. And so I definitely would love to return to her at some point.
How Revord Can Still Play Missy After Young Sheldon
Revord May Still Return As Missy In Young Sheldon’s Sequel Series.
For the longest time, Missy was regarded as Young Sheldon‘s best character. Despite that, she has been routinely cast aside to focus on other characters. After her season 6 arc, which revolved around her rebellious arc due to feeling neglected by her parents, season 7 seems to not learn anything and brings her back to being a side character. Out of all the main characters in Young Sheldon, Missy remains to be the only one who doesn’t have any significant plot as the show nears its end, which is disappointing for those who are invested in her arc.
As Young Sheldon‘s story continues in a way with Georgie and Mandy’s spinoff, Missy would have been the perfect addition to the spinoff. Unfortunately, as Revord herself revealed, she wasn’t invited to be part of the upcoming show. Aside from the titular couple, none of the remaining Coopers will be series regulars in the new CBS endeavor, but it doesn’t mean that they won’t be appearing as guest stars. This is the best chance for Revord to step back into the shoes of Missy. Perhaps, she may even become a recurring cast member.
Young Sheldon Season 7 Sneakily Foreshadowed Missy’s Tragic TBBT Future
Amid the chaos, Young Sheldon foreshadows Missy’s tragic The Big Bang Theory future and explains why she becomes the least successful Cooper sibling.
Young Sheldon season 7 only has a handful of episodes left, so it’s unlikely that it will introduce an entirely new plot for Missy. Hopefully, however, the show is able to give her a definitive ending that could also tie to her story in The Big Bang Theory. That way, even if Revord doesn’t get to play the role again, at least Missy gets a proper send-off.
Young Sheldon
season 7 airs every Thursday, 8pm ET on CBS.
