A woman tried to scare her neighbours by whipping out her samurai sword after an argument about some dog poo.

Rebecca Lowe, 30, waved the weapon after she accused her neighbours, a mum and daughter, of not cleaning up their dog’s poo.

Lowe had her hair pulled, was punched, and dragged down her garden path by the mum and daughter in Runcorn, Cheshire, Warrington Magistrates Court heard.

The boyfriend of the mum then turned up at the scene and Lowe waved the samurai sword at him in retaliation because he refused to move away from her gate.

The mum and daughter were handed police cautions.

Lowe pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon. She was sentenced to a 12-month community order with requirements that she attends 20 days of rehabilitation activity.

She was also ordered to pay £234 in costs and victim surcharge. A charge against her of using threatening behaviour was dropped.

JP Keith Gleave told her: ‘I think we understand what this came out of as you were effectively attacked on your doorstep. It would have been better if you had kept the sword in the house and left it alone – however, you did not do that.

‘Having already had a knife offence on your record this was a stupid action.’

Lowe’s previous offence was possession of a blade in public after her then partner had confronted a 16-year old boy in the street and accused him of smashing a window of her car.

Lowe herself told the boy: ‘You’ve been bricking my window, you’re going to get sliced from ear to ear.’
