Nigerian music executive Micheal Collins, better known as Don Jazzy, has hailed one of his singees, Ayra Starr.

Taking to his Instagram page to share a video from her recent performance, he hailed Ayra Starr for being good in her craft.

“My artist wey too sabi”.

Taking to her comment section, many concurred with him as they praised the Mavins singer.

A few months back, Ayra Starr had lamented over carrying Afrobeats on her back. The Mavins singer, in a tweet,, revealed that she can’t stand straight again. Explaining further, she said her waist was bent from carrying Afrobeats on her back this year. Ayra Starr was no doubt hinting at being the one keeping Afrobeat at the front center.

Since entering the music industry, Ayra Starr has undoubtedly made her mark as the next generation of Afrobeat. The Mavins singer scored a major milestone in her career with a BET Award nomination. She was nominated for the Best New Artist award category alongside a South African singer and other emerging artists.

The ‘Commas’ singer had also gotten a past nomination from the Grammys; although she didn’t win, it remains a huge achievement.

In June, in a sit-down interview with Spotify, Ayra revealed the connecting dots in her life that led to stardom at a young age. She stated that at the age of ten, she knew she would be famous like the fictional Disney character Hannah Montana, even though she didn’t know how she would achieve that.

Recently, Ayra recounted her first meeting with American singer and businesswoman Rihanna at the launch of her Fenty business in London. She said she never knew Rihanna was real until she saw her and stressed that she didn’t know Rihanna was a human being like her. She went on to show encomium on Rihanna and disclosed that the billionaire singer gave her career advice, which she would keep to herself.

In September 2023, Ayra declined to accept her Headies award because it wasn’t announced on stage. She publicly refused to accept the award, stating that she would not show gratitude for an honour not deemed worthy of being announced on the main stage. Ayra Starr went on to highlight the disparity between her treatment and male artists receiving recognition on-stage.
