Printing presses are ready to roll, social media is waiting at the keyboard, it’s nearly time to start spreading the news about the biggest World Series since the start of the Millennium.

The National League will be represented by either the Los Angeles Dodgers or the New York Mets and either team will provide one half of a dream ticket which will captivate the United States.

The American League Championship Series is between the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Guardians and Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred will be praying for the Bronx Bombers to reach the Fall Classic.

If they do then it’s the perfect match-up whoever they face. Television ratings will go through the roof if there is a first Subway Series between the two giants from the Big Apple since 2000 when the Yankees were crowned champions for the fourth time in five years.

But there will also be a colossal television audience if the Dodgers, run by Chelsea owner Todd Boehly, make it to the showpiece showdown as it will pitch the best two players currently gracing the game in a must-watch duel.

Aaron Judge, who smashed an American League record 62 home runs last year and followed that by sending 58 balls into the bleachers this season, will be facing Shohei Ohtani, considered by many to be the greatest player since the legendary Babe Ruth.

Baseball’s popularity is expanding around the globe with regular-season games played in Australia, Tokyo, Mexico and London in recent years and more overseas trips planned.

If the Yankees, on a quest to win it all for the 28th time, reach the World Series then everyone will sit up and take notice. That’s because most of America hates them the way Manchester United are widely disliked outside of Old Trafford but fans will still tune in hoping to see tears flow if they lose the World Series.

If Cleveland are there instead, there’s always the new NBA season round the corner.

The Bronx Bombers are no better than 1/2 ON to see off Cleveland’s challenge and are 4/6 with Betfair to win game one at The Stadium tonight and 9/5 with SpreadEx and Sporting Index to win the World Series.

• Brennan Johnson has scored in seven straight games for club and country and is 11/2 with bet365 to open the scoring when Wales entertain Bulgaria in a Nations League match in Cardiff and 9/4 with BoyleSports to extend the streak at any time.

• Georgia Plimmer smashed 53 runs off 44 balls as New Zealand beat Sri Lanka in the T20 Women’s World Cup on Saturday and is 4/1 with Ladbrokes and Coral to be their top batter once again when they face Pakistan.
