Automotive and Locomotive Engineers (of the Nigerian Society of Engineers -NSE) have emphasized the crucial role of alternative fuels in addressing the country’s food security challenges. 

At the 14th National Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Automotive and Locomotive Engineers’ Institute (AutoEI) in Kaduna, NSE President and Chairman-in-Council, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala believed that, alternative fuels could enhance transportation efficiency and contribute significantly to achieving food security in Nigeria.

She then advocated for researching, developing, and promoting alternative fuels to mitigate these challenges.

In a remark, Chairman of the House Committee on Internal Security, Garba Ibrahim Mohammed, in the green chamber of the National Assembly emphasized the importance of alternative fuels in addressing Nigeria’s food security challenges. 

Earlier, the National Chairman, AutoEI, Engr. Osaze Omorogbe said the conference’ theme “Alternative Fuels for Motive Power: A Panacea for Food Security” was carefully chosen based on federal government initiative through National Economic Council as it took a bold step to ensure food security and affordability.
