Aaron Stanford opens up about whether he would be game to take part in the X-Men reboot for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine. The number of Marvel movies releasing in 2024 may be limited, but the MCU is about to have one of its biggest films in the entire Multiverse Saga. Deadpool & Wolverine will bring Wade Wilson into the MCU while also featuring Hugh Jackman’s return as his iconic version of Logan – though these are far from the only big returns teased for the film.

One of the returning X-Men actors taking part in the Deadpool & Wolverine cast is Aaron Stanford, reprising the role of Pyro from the original trilogy. In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Stanford shared his experience of coming back as Pyro, while also giving his thoughts on the new X-Men reboot coming from Marvel Studios. When asked if he would be open to join the reboot – whether as a new version of Pyro or even a different character – Stanford offered the following response:

Aaron Stanford: I mean, it’s an absolute blast, obviously, you always want to know what the specifics are and what the characters are. But I had a fantastic time doing the original X-Men movies, I had a fantastic time doing Deadpool 3, so if I could find myself in a situation where it was a project that was akin to those mean, yeah for sure. I’d love to do it.

X-Men Pyro Actor On Marvel Studios’ Interesting Approach Bringing Him Back For Deadpool & Wolverine

In the same interview with Screen Rant to promote the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, Stanford also reflected on his very interesting approach from Marvel Studios to come back as Pyro. To begin with, Stanford “felt very much like the X-Men universe was very much behind me,” until his agent called and said to him that “‘Marvel called us,’” to check specifically on his availability. However, Marvel Studios didn’t say what it was for, and this wouldn’t be the last time they did it.

As the calls kept coming in a number of times, Stanford revealed they finally said, “‘All right, great, so we would love for him to hop on the phone with Shawn Levy,’” who the actor was already aware was set to direct Deadpool & Wolverine. Stanford would agree to this call, where Levy dropped that “‘Yeah, we want to bring Pyro back. Is that something you’d be interested in?’” It wasn’t hard to convince Stanford to agree to his offer, as he stated, “of course, I jumped at it.”

It will be interesting to see how Pyro fits into the overall story of Deadpool & Wolverine, as he will be one of several characters from the previous X-Men films to take part in the Phase 5 adventure. To what degree other actors also show up from the original X-Men movies remains to be seen. This will become clear shortly though, as the MCU audience will get to experience Deadpool & Wolverine as of this week.
