A far cry from a live action Disney princess, Amy Adams is set to star in Nightb****h as woman who thinks she’s turning into a dog.
Horror films have gone wild and that’s a real synopsis of a film which the beloved Enchanted star and Oscar nominee has agreed to appear in.
The bizarre movie will be released on December 6, just in time for Christmas, and is directed by Marielle Heller — the director behind Diary of a Teenage Girl.
Amy, 49, stars as a woman ‘thrown into the stay-at-home routine of raising a toddler in the suburbs’ with her husband, played by Scoot McNairy.
The official synopsis states she ‘slowly embraces the feral power deeply rooted in motherhood, as she becomes increasingly aware of the bizarre and undeniable signs that she may be turning into a canine.’
Nightb****h is the on-screen adaptation of Rachel Yoder’s acclaimed debut novel of the same name, with the screenplay written by Marielle.
She also directed A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood and Can You Forgive Me? which earned Oscar nods for Tom Hanks, Melissa McCarthy, and Richard E. Grant.
Not only is Marielle an acclaimed director, she is credited with appearing in multiple episodes of Queen’s Gambit and Popstar: Never Stop Popping.
When she was announced as the director in 2022, the acclaimed director shared: ‘Rachel Yoder‘s book took my breath away. I haven’t felt this way about a book since I read The Diary of a Teenage Girl many years ago.
‘Rachel’s darkly hilarious tale of motherhood and rage made me feel seen. And adapting it with Amy Adams in mind has been the thing that has kept me going through the pandemic.’
The Arrival star was last seen letting her wicked side run free in the magical musical sequel Disenchanted.
After Nightb****h, Amy will appear with Jenna Ortega in Taika Waititi’s Klara and the Sun based on Kazuo Ishiguro’s bestselling novel.
She’s also filmed comedy The Invite with Paul Rudd and Thor’s Tessa Thompson which is an adaptation of Spanish film Sentimental.
Nightb****h will be released on December 6, 2024.
