As primaries for the local government elections draw closer, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno has urged stakeholders in the different local government areas to present competent and popular aspirants that will ensure smooth victories at the polls.
The governor stated this during the July edition of Government House monthly Covenant Service held at the Banquet Hall, Uyo.
According to him, the PDP’s stance is to allocate 40 per cent of the available positions to women.
He also said that in order to promote greater participation among women, they will be provided with forms at no cost.
The governor emphasized the importance of interested candidates conducting thorough checks to confirm their alignment with the zoning arrangement before going to the polls.
He emphasized that no one would be responsible for any unwise campaign spending.
Recall that the local government election across the 31 local council is slated for October 26, while the primaries across the various political parties will hold between July 22nd and August 26.
