Philips has announced the latest addition to its premium Evnia 8000 monitor series featuring a QD-OLED panel. Philips Evnia 49M2C8900L aims to deliver excellent performance and quality while retaining a palatable price tag.
Boasting a 48.9in (124.3 cm) QD-OLED panel, Evnia 49M2C8900L is ready to become your ultimate display for all tasks. Are you a gamer? Then 5120×1440 at 144Hz is the perfect compromise between resolution and frame rate, demanding less from your machine to drive it. Fancy some Netflix, but don’t want it taking up the whole screen? Then, the 32:9 aspect ratio and OLED’s DisplayHDR True Black 400 high contrast will elevate your cinematic experience while giving you ample room to continue browsing.
Evnia 49M2C8900L can also improve your workflow and productivity thanks to its ultra-wide format and KVM switch. Its breadth allows you to put two or more windows side-by-side to enhance productivity. The USBs, however, make it easy to continue the work you started on your laptop when coming home. Philips has also certified it for VESA ClearMR 8000 which indicates how smooth motion is.
Not enough? How about its Ambiglow lighting? Read-mounted LEDs expand your experience into the wall behind the screen, giving the illusion of a much larger display. Not to forget the four 7.5W DTS speakers. There is only one thing that may repel some potential buyers: the 1800R curve. While it can enhance the gaming experience, it can distort tasks that feature geometrical shapes like CAD or design.
Philips didn’t skimp on I/O either, offering two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4, one USB-C with DP Alt Mode and 90W power delivery, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a four-port USB hub. Lastly, due to its wide format, this monitor can’t pivot without moving the whole stand. However, it can tilt by -5°/+15°, swivel by -20°/+20°, and adjust height by 120mm.
Philips Evnia 49M2C8900L will be available this month at £869.99 MSRP. This puts it £90 lower than the 240Hz Evnia 49M2C8900 – £170 if we omit the ongoing 8% discount. For such a difference, I would choose the 240Hz experience, but I understand that sometimes the budget doesn’t allow any extras.
