It’s safe to say that pizza delivery driver Marius Preda is never going to be short of dough again after winning the lottery.

Preda, 28, who lives with his wife and child in Tamworth, Staffordshire, has spent years earning about £12 an hour working for Papa John’s.

Now after winning the Best of the Best (BOTB) prize draw last month, he’s bagged himself £500,000 – about 200 times what Marius would earn in a year.

‘I’m going to take some time to think about it but we would love to buy a new house and go on holiday,’ he said, hoping to go to Romania where he left in 2019 to come to the UK.

Yet Marius has no plans to quit his delivery job, which nets him about £480 a week and £24,960 a year, despite getting a slice of good fortune. He even turned up to work the next day.

‘I’m absolutely delighted to have won and am full of emotions,’ he added.

‘Winning this amount of money is life-changing and it’s going to take some time to sink in.’

The half a million pounds now sitting in Marius’ bank account was the biggest cash prize ever offered by BOTB, where punters have to answer a single question correctly to compete.

A BOTB spokesperson said: ‘Marius, who has been working as a pizza delivery driver for about four years and was back at work the next day.

‘He was also planning to spend the money on a new home for him and his family.’

BOTB presenter Christian Williams said: ‘A huge congratulations to Marius on winning this amazing cash prize in our biggest-ever competition giveaway.

‘We’re always looking at new ways to give people the chance to win some fantastic prizes, and it was great to be able to surprise Marius in the way we did.

‘I know how hard it is for a lot of people at the moment and £500,000 is a life-changing amount of money.

‘It has got to be the best tip any delivery driver has ever received.’
