The Lagos state Police command has confirmed that a 24-year -old welder has been electrocuted during working hours at Adeniji Adele area of Lagos.
The police spokesperson said SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement made available to Blueprint, said the incident occurred on October 1,2024 at about 1900 hours .
“A complainant reported at Adeniji Adele division that his elder brother has a plaza at Nnamdi Azikiwe street, Lagos Island, which is still under renovation and being supervised.
“A welder engaged his brother, identified as Adedeji, a 24-year -old man and during the course of working. Adedeji was electrocuted”
“On receipt of the report, the DPO led the the patrol team including the detectives of officers of the division to the scene and discovered it’s a 2-story building under renovation”
“The victim was on the second floor when the incident happened.
“His 2 legs were burnt off while the burnt body was flung down to the first floor”
Hundeyin stated that his photographs have been taken and the corps have also been evacuated to Yaba General Hospital where the man on duty confirmed him dead.
However the corps was deposited at Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
