Men of the Oyo state Police command are now investigating circumstances surrounding the death of five members of a white garment church in Ibadan with over 50 others hospitalised.
The five members were said to have met their untimely death after reportedly eating at a feast organised by the church after its service last Sunday.
Sources said trouble started few minutes after eating the said feast when some of those that ate from the feast started complaining of stomach upset.
The sources stated that the people were quickly rushed to the Infectious Disease Centre, Olodo area of Ibadan for medical attention during which five of the victims were confirmed dead
It was learnt that already, 50 of those rushed to the Infectious Disease Centre have been discharged but that some members of the church are still undergoing treatment at the centre.
Sources in the church said since the incident occurred, men of the Oyo state Police command, the Directorate of State Services, (DSS), World Health Organisation (WHO) and others have been visiting the church to ascertain what went wrong.
According to the sources, as at present, there has not been any fact to link the feast with the incident as the findings of the government agencies on it are yet to be made public
