Red Rock is returning to screens after four years, with fans now able to stream the series in its entirety.

The Irish soap, which is set in the eponymous fictional seaside town, centred on the day-to-day lives of the officers at the local Garda station – as well as the residents of the area.

Much of the drama was born out of the feud between the Kiely and Hennessy clans, leading to many a showdown, which naturally required the intervention from the local Gardai.

Red Rock, which enjoyed three very successful series, became a staple of daytime programming in the UK when it launched on BBC One In 2016, with the first episode bringing in a whopping 1.1 million viewers.

Its run on the broadcaster was somewhat segmented, with long gaps between seasons and a move to BBC Two for its final two episodes, which aired with little fanfare during the Covid-19 pandemic – shortly after their eventual airing on Virgin Media One in Ireland.

The hit serial was created by Peter McKenna, who is now best known for creating BBC thriller Kin.

Former EastEnders boss John Yorke – who helmed one of the BBC One soap’s greatest ever eras and gave us iconic moments such as ‘Who Shot Phil?’ and the original Slater saga – served an executive producer.

A rare gem in the world of soap in that it never really lost is spark, Red Rock is certainly missed – and it’s sudden and unexpected ending left fans upset.

But if you fancy reliving all the iconic moments- or if you simply fancy another soapy serial in your life – then you’ll be delighted to know that you can stream Red Rock from the beginning.

The serial drama is now available on STV Player, the very same streaming services that answered soap fans’ prayers in treating us to Brookside from the very start.

‘From the incredible response we’ve had to relaunching Brookside, we know our viewers love a brilliantly written drama with multi-dimensional characters, unpredictable plotlines and just the right combination of grit and warmth, so STV Player is the perfect home for Red Rock in the UK,’ said Richard Williams, Managing Director of Digital at STV.

Gary Woolf, EVP Strategic Development at All3Media International, added: ‘We’ve seen phenomenal success in the soap genre with STV Player through the ongoing success of Brookside and we’re excited to now give audiences the chance to lap up the stories from Red Rock shore.’

Red Rock can now be streamed from the beginning on STV Player.
