Popular Nollywood actress and media personality Idia Aisien recently got involved in a car accident.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the movie star announced the accident in a lengthy post shared via her Instagram page on Friday.
Aisien disclosed that the accident occurred on her birthday, which, according to the media personality, was supposed to be her best day ever.
According to the actress, she broke her leg in three places and could not walk or do the thing she loves doing.
Sharing a video of the incident, the actress wrote, “July 6, 2024, what was supposed to be the best birthday of my life turned out to be one of the most painful experiences I’ve ever had.
“I broke my leg in three places, and I could no longer walk.
I didn’t know if I’ll be able to do the things I love, but I knew I would begin to do the things that mattered.”
Aisien also disclosed that her disability helped birth the growing urge to make life better for those battling various disabilities.
She further thanked family and friends who showed her immerse support during difficult times.
“I watched how people with disabilities are treated, and I wanted to do my part to make life a little bit easier Because some of the basic things we take for granted were just so hard to do.
“-Starting with FashionAble, an adaptive clothing label to supply clothes for people with disabilities — Magnets instead of buttons and zips, wider like pants for people who have casts, shirts with arm braces embedded and much more.
“-Second: equipment like aesthetic boots, wheelchairs, and crutches, donated to different centres and homes across Nigeria that need them the most.
“-Third: working with different hospitals and care centers on the kind of food and menus available to people who are recently disabled or in recovery. You don’t have to be rich, but everybody should have access to a decent meal.
“-Fourth: Funding equipment for hospitals and centers to focus on providing faster response, more effective surgeries, and the ability to pay better doctors and consultants to care for people in need.
“-And last but certainly not least, donations to help clear the debt of families who are unable to adequately cater to their loved ones with disabilities .
“This, I believe, is one of the reasons I’ve been blessed to come out of this situation alive.To my family and friends who never left my side, all I can say is thank you. It has been an incredibly painful 8weeks; For everyone who messaged, emailed, prayed, visited. I love you,” she added.
