Will it be another disappointment? (Sony)

Sony has confirmed its next State Of Play presentation will happen this week and there’s plenty of rumours about what could be shown.

With the Tokyo Game Show due to start on Thursday, Sony has announced a new State Of Play presentation for Tuesday – exactly as previous rumours had predicted.

The show kicks off on Tuesday, September 24 at 11pm in the UK, which translates to 3pm ET/6pm ET in the US. It will be available across PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch channels.

Sony has promised ‘news and updates’ on over 20 upcoming PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2 games in the presentation, which is set to span over 30 minutes – so a relatively long one.

The presentation comes after Sony recently announced the PS5 Pro, so it’s likely the console will be shown off in some capacity once again. However, there have been no rumours of any major new first party games to announce alongside it, which is surprising.

Instead, probably the only thing to expect from Sony itself is a previously leaked remaster of PlayStation 4 game Horizon Zero Dawn; as well as probably the release date for Lego Horizon Adventures – which is also being released on Nintendo Switch.

Another rumour suggests that a second remaster of a PlayStation 4 game, that is even ‘less exciting’, will be announced alongside it. Fans have deemed Days Gone as the most likely candidate, but it could also be God Of War (2018) – which is unexciting for the fact that it’s graphics need little improvement.

Beyond that, there’s few other clues as to what Sony might talk about, other than that any new third party title out this Christmas is likely to turn up, including Call Of Duty and Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Death Stranding 2 is also a possibility, as while it’s not out till next year it is being published by Sony as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive.

There has been talk of Resident Evil 9 being unveiled this autumn, although there’s been no agreement as to when exactly, with some suggesting the Tokyo Game Show – including, possibly, the Xbox livestream during it.

At the beginning of the year Sony made it clear it would not publish any major new titles until after next April, but the rumours at the moment suggest that whatever their next big title is it won’t be featured during this week’s State of Play.
