Eddie Knight (Christopher Fairbank) continues to plague adoptive son George’s (Colin Salmon) life in EastEnders next week ahead of his sentencing.

Eddie is preparing to spend the rest of his life behind bars after being charged for the racially motivated murder of George’s birth father Henry forty years ago.

Arriving into Albert Square with wife Gloria (Elizabeth Counsell) earlier this year, it soon became clear that their motives for reuniting with their son were more sinister than originally thought.

Originally believing to be Jamaican, George longed for the truth surrounding his heritage and was shocked to learn that he was adopted from West Africa as part of a baby farming agreement.

When Henry returned to the UK to collect his son, Gloria pleaded with her husband to do whatever it took to keep George.

In a vile act, alongside his racist pals, Eddie beat Henry and then stuffed his body into a suitcase before throwing it into a canal.

After his body was recently found, George was approached to give his dad a good character reference in court, initially unaware that Henry was his birth father.

With the revelation out in the open, he headed to the courtroom and gave a scathing outline of exactly the man that Eddie is.

In upcoming scenes, the CPS reach out to George to inform him that Gloria has given them information about Eddie.

Arriving at The Vic, she encourages him to testify, but he’s left infuriated when he overhears her on the phone to Eddie, clearly unable to turn her back on him.

After throwing his mum out, ex-wife Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) urges him to speak with her (having secretly spoken with the pensioner herself) but he refuses.

Later, Eddie summons George to the Boxing Den and tries to convince him not to testify, but when he snaps, Eddie issues a chilling threat.

At the court, having decided to testify, he is cross-examined by his ‘dad’s’ defence team which causes Gloria to shout out.

Overcome with emotion when the court adjourns, she collapses in the corridor.

Later in the week, after learning she suffered a heart attack, she begs George to retrieve a box from her flat which contains important information about his childhood.

Unsure whether to go back to the hospital, Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) encourages him to try and make up for their lost time as he’s now facing spending many years away from son Ben (Max Bowden) who has been extradited to the US.

At her bedside, George takes a trip down memory lane and the two listen to a recorded lullaby from his birth mother.

Will he be able to forgive Gloria?
