What Protector Means For Milla Jovovich’s Career

The Film Will Help The Actor’s Career Momentum

While Jovovich has acted in numerous projects throughout her career, Protector could be an especially big deal for the actor. Though she was very active with the Resident Evil franchise for quite a while, Jovovich’s career has been slow in recent years. In fact, there was a four-year gap between her thriller this year, Breathe, and her previous project, Monster Hunter, which came out in 2020. Protector will give the actor a good chance to get back to playing a leading role in the way she has so proved herself capable.

With Resident Evil: Death Island on the way, there’s no better time to rank the Resident Evil franchise’s animated movies from worst to best.

Protector is also not the only movie that the actor has on her slate. She is also set to star alongside Dave Bautista in the Paul W.S. Anderson action-adventure film In the Lost Lands, which is in post-production and will likely be her next project to hit theaters. She also has other action films lined up, including Midnight, World-Breaker, and Twilight of the Dead. Eight years may have passed since her most recent Resident Evil film, but Protector and this busy lineup suggest Jovovich’s career is in for a renaissance.

Our Take On Protector

The Plot Looks To Be An Interesting Spin On Taken

Liam Neeson in Taken

It is no surprise that Protector‘s likeness to Taken has been stated, as the film’s plot does sound quite similar to the Liam Neeson series. Despite their overlapping content, however, it will be interesting to see how Protector and Taken handle their main plots differently, especially with a gender-swapped protagonist role. Remaking classic action films with female leads has been a historically flawed practice, but because Protector is not actually a direct Taken reimagining, it could be a successful way to stray from genre convention.
