Welcome To Wrexham Season 3: Renewal, Cast, Story & Everything We Know
The FX documentary series Welcome to Wrexham will be back for a third season, and here’s everything to know about the returning sports hit.
During half-time, ScreenRant interviews McElhenney about his experience at Cosm, if The Always Sunny podcast could ever return, and when Sunny’s crossover episodes with Abbott Elementary will air.
Cosm Is The Next Best Option For Those Who Can’t Fly To Sports Games, McElhenney Says
The Wrexham AFC vs Barnsley F.C. game was his first full match at the venue.
McElhenney starts by chatting about his virtual experience at the game, as he feels the venue offers something special for sports fans. “It’s my first time watching a full match at Cosm, and the hype is real,” the actor shares. “There’s just such a real desire and need to be with people, especially watching sporting events, and if you can’t fly all the way to Wrexham, Wales, then this is the next best option.”
He continues on to explain how the collaboration between Wrexham and Cosm came about. “Honestly, the first time I had ever heard of Cosm was on Instagram,” McElhenney admits. “I saw that they were open, and then I talked to a few people who were on our crew and in our cast who had been to a couple of baseball games and a couple of NFL games, and they just could not stop talking about it.” It was eventually McElhenney’s team at More Better Industries who reached out to Cosm, and a partnership was born.
McElhenney Talks The Always Sunny Podcast And The Show’s Upcoming Crossover With Abbott Elementary
“We love the podcast, and we love recording it. We love the show, obviously.”
ScreenRant also asks the co-creater and star of FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia if The Always Sunny Podcast could ever return. It was discontinued due to the cast’s busy schedules, but McElhenney affirms that they all loved recording the series and to “never say never.” He also gives an exciting filming update on the show’s seventeenth season. Read his full quote below:
I don’t know. We’ll see. We never say never. We’re all so super busy right now, but we love the podcast, and we love recording it. We love the show, obviously. We just finished season 17, or actually, [December 4] is our last day of production on season 17. And then we’re wrapped.
There hasn’t been too much news on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 17, but a crossover between the sitcom and ABC’s Abbott Elementary was confirmed in October when McElhenney posted a photo of both casts on set together on Instagram. When asked about the highly anticipated episode, he shares, “The Abbott Elementary crossover will be in January, and then another Abbott Elementary episode for Sunny [will be] sometime in the spring or summer.” Additionally, Mythic Quest season 4 returns on January 29, which McElhenney promises will be “very eventful” for fans of the show.
